While visiting New York I had the opportunity to visit UNIQLO’s Fifth Avenue Global Flagship Storeand. (UNIQLO NEW YORK 5TH AVENUE STORE: 666 5th Avenue at 53rd Street, New York, NY 10103)
UNIQLO (Japanese retailer) is known as a corporate sponsor of MoMA which means the store features the art work of MoMA-approved artists exclusively at the store’s Fifth Avenue location.
On the second floor is found the SPRZ NY store. SPRZ NY (“Surprise New York”) is a new project designed around the concept of “A place where clothes and art meet.” It features a special collection of modern art-inspired fashion products intended to surprise, including a collaboration with The Museum of Modern Art.The collection features about 200 items ($6–$50, most T-shirts are $20) displaying the works of Andy Warhol, Jean-Michael Basquiat, Keith Haring, Jack Pierson, Jackson Pollack, Lawrence Weiner, Ryan McGinness and Sarah Morris. Warhol, Basquiat and Haring will always be represented in the collection, and in the future, the lineup will rotate in other artists featured at MoMA.
UNIQLO has also a webstore and ships to many countries.
