Ivana Helsinki is a Finnish fashion company, founded by Paola Suhonen who is a Helsinki born designer, artist and filmmaker. The designer says that Ivana Helsinki started as her personal art-project; now it’s a way of living.
“Ivana Helsinki is an independent art, fashion & cinema brand, delicately mending Slavic rough melancholy and pure Scandinavian moods. The balancing between white arctic summer nights and endless winter sadness. Eerie hovering isolation and intense starkness. Ivana Helsinki collections are like small ballads with charming, soulful and savvy tones.”
Designer Suhonen has worked product development, print and concept design for several companies including Head Snowboards, HP Sauce, Topshop, Google, Swarovski, Coca-Cola, Canon, Artek, Amnesty International, Mori Art Center in Tokyo, Finnish traditional porcelain company Kermansavi and her own jewelry line for Kaipaus. And she has fared very well with her own Ivana Helsinki collections.Last September Ivana Helsinki showed her collection “Indian Summer” Spring/Summer 2012 at New York Fashion Week and it is truly a magnificent achievement! The collection is beautiful- I like the most the tribal-inspired prits but also the colours are beautiful.
